Simon Cowell wants eighth X Factor series to air January 2012

Simon Cowell
Simon Cowell has said he would prefer for the eighth series of The X Factor to air in January 2012. Speaking to Radio 2 DJ Steve Wright, Cowell said it would be possible to air a series in 2011 “‘if a couple of things can be moved”, but would prefer to try airing the talent programme in the spring instead.
Simon said: “We have a contract to put Factor on in America next year, which we are committed to.
“And what we now have to look at is how much time we have got to make both shows, because I’ve got less time, so we are thinking about moving Factor into a different time of the year and Britain’s Got Talent to a different time”.
He added: “I’ve been reassured by ITV that we have got all the money we need to make them better, if I think they are going to be better.
“If I think they’re going to be better, we’re going to carry on making them and we’re very close to announcing a long term deal with ITV for both shows.”
On the topic of broadcasting The X Factor from January 2012, Cowell commented: “I think putting it in a different time slot might be good.”
The X Factor continues tonight on ITV1 from 7:45PM
