X Factor judge Cheryl Cole wanted her boyfriend Derek Hough to be a mentor on the ITV show, according to reports. Cole, 27, reportedly asked producers if the US dancer could join her for the "judges' houses" stage of the competition, but it is claimed executive producer Richard Holloway nixed the idea. Instead, her Black Eyed Peas pal Will.i.am will be at her side when she chooses her finalists. A source told UK newspaper the Sunday Mirror: "Cheryl has barely spent a day apart from Derek and with his background in dance, she thought he would be a great mentor. "But when Richard Holloway got wind of the idea he stepped in and immediately said no." The source added: "This is the biggest show on TV, so he feels that likewise mentors should be the biggest names in the music industry, not the judge's latest squeeze.
